Biography
Bethel focuses on optimizing risk-adjusted returns across a large portfolio of equities and fixed income assets. His work includes developing financing capabilities, identifying new return opportunities, and supporting AustralianSuper’s long-term securities finance strategy.
Bethel joined AustralianSuper in March 2020. He previously held buy-side and sell-side roles at a macro systematic hedge fund and UBS Investment Bank, where he gained trading and research experience. He holds a Master of Applied Finance with First Class Honours from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Economics from the University of Sydney.
Bethel is interested in capital markets and uses dialogue with GPFA members to deepen his knowledge of securities lending, non-traditional cash reinvestment, structured products, repo, financing, and collateral management.
