Kalan Roye

Kalan Roye is a Canadian systems and software engineer, computer science student, and entrepreneur at Western University. A lifelong builder who began programming at a young age, he develops full-stack platforms, artificial intelligence systems, and self-hosted infrastructure across education, government, and financial services.

He is the founder of Crux Planner, an AI-powered academic planning platform that helps university students discover courses, organize schedules, and track their degree progress. His broader engineering work includes developing applications for Environment and Climate Change Canada and building a next-generation digital platform for the Global Peer Financing Association.

Roye’s work has received First Place and the People’s Choice Award at the Western Startup Challenge, the Best Research and Innovation Project Award at the Canadian Tech Summit, and the Best Real-World Application Award at the Toronto Tech Expo. Western University has also featured him in its student profiles and recruitment campaigns, including a full-page advertisement in Maclean’s Guide to Canadian Universities highlighting his work in software and entrepreneurship.
